Information

St. Lawrence was a Spaniard called to Rome by the pope. He was martyred by being burned on a grid iron according to St. Ambrose. Approximately 50 years after his death the Emperor Constantine had a Basilica built over St. Lawrence's grave. It was one of the seven major churches in Rome.
