Fourth Station
Jesus meets His Blessed Mother.

Invocation
V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
R. Because by Your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

"Simeon said . . . A sword of sorrow will pierce through your own soul." Luke 2 : 15

Throughout her life the shadow of Simeon's prophecy must have darkened her days. Now as she meets Jesus on his way to death, the fulfilment of that prophecy was drawing near.

Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, in meeting your sorrowing mother on the Via Dolorosa, your own suffering must also have been increased. May we never be unmindful, or unconcerned by the sufferings of others, and may we always strive to support and console them.
