Bethany

Bethany was a village located on the SE slope of the Mt. of Olives, near the road to Jericho Mark 11: 1-10, and about 2 miles (3k) from Jerusalem.

It was the home of Martha, Mary and Lazarus and of Simon the Leper. Here Jesus often visited Luke 10: 38-42,

and raised Lazarus from the dead John 11:1-46 .

In His final week, Jesus stayed there Matthew 21: 12-17. At Bethany he was anointed by Mary at Simon’s house Matthew 26: 6-13. Finally, from a site near Bethany, he ascended to heaven Luke 24: 36-53.
