Information

St. Andrew was canonised on June 19, 1988. He suffered martyrdom in the 19th century. Persecution of Vietnamese Christians from the 17th century until the 19th century was intense, especially between 1820 and 1840 under the reign of the Emperor Minh-Mang. Under his reign 117 Christians - clergy, religious, and lay - suffered martyrdom.
