Jesus dies on the cross.

Invocation
V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
R. Because by Your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

"When the centurion, who had stood facing him, saw that He had breathed His last, he said , Truly this man was the Son of God." John 15: 39

When the head of Jesus fell in death, he demonstrated beyond all questioning the truth of his own words, "Greater love than this no man has, that a man lays down his life for his friend". No greater proof of His love could ever be given.

Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, as we contemplate your dead body hanging on the cross, as your beloved mother stood there, may her example inspire us to be faithful to you in everything we do and say in our daily lives.

I love You, Jesus; I love You above all things;
I repent with my whole heart of having offended You.
Never permit me to separate myself from You again.
Grant that I may love You always;
and then do with me what You will.
