Let me mingle tears with thee,
Mourning him who mourned for me,
All the days that I might live;

Thirteenth Station
Jesus is taken down from the Cross.

Invocation
V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
R. Because by Your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

"When Pilate learned that Jesus was dead, he granted the body to Joseph . . . and taking Him down they wrapped Him in a linen shroud." Mark 15: 46

Tradition tells us that the dead body of Jesus was held in the arms of His sorrowing mother. At that moment the sword that Simeon prophesied would one day pierce her heart had at last done so.

Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, hanging on the cross you gave Mary your mother to be our mother also. May her courage and heroic resignation inspire us to carry the crosses that from time to time may enter our own lives.

I love You, Jesus; I love You above all things;
I repent with my whole heart of having offended You.
Never permit me to separate myself from You again.
Grant that I may love You always;
and then do with me what You will.

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father

Responsory
V. Have mercy on us, O Lord.
R. Have mercy on us.
