Oh, how sad and sore distress'd Was that mother highly blest, Of the sole-begotten One.
Third Station Jesus falls the first time.
Invocation V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. R. Because by Your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.
"Unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains but a grain; but if it dies it brings forth much fruit". John 12 : 24
The scourging, the crowning with thorns, the sleepless night left Jesus in a state of exhaustion. No wonder the weight of the cross brought him to his knees, and pinned him to the ground beneath the heavy burden he carried that we might be free.
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, in our human weakness we often fall. Help us to rise again by drawing strength from your example and by the supporting grace you merited for us by this fall.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father
Responsory V. Have mercy on us, O Lord. R. Have mercy on us.
