"Lord, to whom shall we go?" Jesus came again to Capernaum and went into the synagogue, which was full of people, some of whom had eaten of the five loaves. These people wanted Jesus to feed them in the same way again, but He said to them, "You seek Me because you have eaten of the loaves. Do not labour for the food that perishes, but for that which endures unto life everlasting, which the Son of Man will give you." They said to Him, "Lord, give us always this bread." But He answered, "I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eat of this bread he shall live forever; and the bread that I will give is My Flesh for the life of the world." The Jews argued with one another, saying, "How can this man give us His Flesh to eat?" Our Lord did not change the meaning of His words. Instead He said what He meant with even stronger words, "Amen, amen I say to you, unless you eat of the Flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His Blood, you shall not have life in you. He who eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood has life everlasting, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My Flesh is food indeed, and My Blood is drink indeed. He who eats My Flesh, and drinks My Blood, abides in Me and I in him." When the people heard this, many of them said, " This is too hard to believe." And they began to depart. Jesus then turned to His apostles and asked, "Do you also wish to go away?" Peter answered, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of everlasting life, and we have come to believe and to know that You are the Christ, the Son of God." At this time Jesus promised the Most Holy Eucharist. This promise was later fulfilled at the Last Supper.
