Glorious Mysteries |
First Glorious Mystery: The Resurrection Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and now he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. Remember what I have told you." So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. MATTHEW 28: 1-8 Mary Most Holy Mary most holy, from your hands falling
Second Glorious Mystery: The Ascension He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth." And when he had said this, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, suddenly two men stood by them in white robes, and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven." ACTS 1: 7-11
Third Glorious Mystery: The Descent of the Holy Spirit Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away; and when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and the apostles. All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a sound came from heaven like the rush of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ACTS 1:12-14, 2:1-4 Through joy and sorrow, each day's condition Fourth Glorious Mystery: The Assumption of Our Lady And a great sign appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery. REVELATION 12: 1,2 'We proclaim, declare and define it to be a dogma revealed by God that the Immaculate Mother of God, Mary, when her earthly life was finished, was taken up, body and soul, into the glory of heaven.' Help us to witness, Christ is still living
When she was taken up to heaven, Mary was crowned Queen of heaven, by God the Father as His beloved daughter, by God the Son as His dearest Mother, and by God the Holy Spirit as His chosen Spouse, the most perfect adorer of the Blessed Trinity, pleading the cause of her children here on earth.
