Thank you to the people in Rathkenny Parish by Mary Sweeney nee Murray from Germany
12. September 2008
I would like to thank all of you in Rathkenny Parish who sent mass cards, good wishes and who continue to pray for me today. Thank you for all the support you have given my family in Creewood too. Doctors thought I was not going to make it in late June but your prayers helped me through that time.
Comment:
Glad you are on the mend, Mary. We continue to pray for your welfare. Best wishes to the rest of your family.

I came across your website by mistake, or so I thought! But I have to say it was one of the mistakes I can say that I didn't regret, and I will be returning to it again. Very inspiring and knowledgeable. I love it, keep up the good work !!

O Happy Fault! Clare, your visits are most welcome. So nice to hear from you.

I wish to thank all the people in Rathkenny Rushwee and Grangegeeth for praying for me over the past few months since I got ill. The power of prayer has helped me so much and has the doctors baffled. I want to especially thank Fr Stanley who visited me in hospital, and Mammy & Daddy say I got better each time he visited. May I say God Bless you all and I look forward to visiting Rathkenny in the years to come. Love Áine Casserley (Aged 7 months)
Comment:
Dear Áine, We all rejoice in you and in the good news you send us. So many of us are praying for you and we will continue to do so. Our God is certainly a loving God and your life is a witness to that. We look forward to your future visits.

Can I say how much I enjoy accessing the Liturgical Calender and reading the brief outlines for a Feast Day. The www.RathkennyParish.ie website can be found in my "daily favourites" selection. Additionally, I love accessing the varied Topics of Faith under the Main Menu, and have learned so much about the basics of faith, having returned to faith after many years of absence, through the influence of the late John Paul the Great, and a kindly priest hailing from the West of Ireland. May all who visit this site be richly blessed. Go n-éiri Réalta na Beithile i gcroi gach uile dhuine.
Comment:
A Chaoimhín, tá fáilte romhat. John Paul II influenced and blessed all of us. Thank you for your lovely witness. May you continue to be richly blessed too! Postscript: A Chaoimhín, you wrote to us in the early days of the site, but did not include your email address for the administrator (we do not publish it). We would like to check back with you. Great to find the website. Loads to read. 262871 visitors! Attended the old and new churches. My father and grandparents are buried in Rathkenny graveyard. Spent my early school years at Stackallen and then on to Drogheda and then the world! Had the most special times there (thanks P!). Rathkenny Hall, and the Sally, and the Lackan, and the church every sunday, the missions, holy days, and places with no names but the ones we children gave them. Such memories. Good luck to all.
Comment:
Glad you found the website, Peter, but where in the world do we find you in 2008? Delighted to hear from you and hope you continue to visit us.

I'm delighted to have just discovered your website which is very enjoyable. I grew up in Rathkenny. My father was Terence Cullen and my mother was Christina. We owned the local pub and grocery store at Lacken. I came to Toronto in 1959 and have lived here ever since. I married a Skerries girl in 1969 and we have four children and five grandchildren. I remember several of the people mentioned on your site.
Comment:
Great to hear from you, Teddy. Perhaps we'll meet when you come to visit your brother Mattie in Kilmainhamwood!Your many visits to the site are most welcome. With a Christmas blessing for you and family. Fr Stanley

Could anybody help me in finding the exact location of the Rathkenny Hills, please.... it's a beautiful part of the country, but no map references can pinpoint them.. keep up the good work on your website. Well done...!
Comment:
"Rathkenny Hills" may refer to Sliabh Bre? and surrounding upland which is located across the townlands of Mount Fortescue and Creewood, located to the north east of Rathkenny. See map link to townlands under "Where We Are" in our Main Menu. Good luck with your research! Best wishes from the web team.

Great website, and I really enjoyed the pictures of the parish in action. Was looking for similarities as my Great-Grandfather--Christopher Graham--was born in Rathkenny in 1815. Hopefully someone there can help me locate where his family resided there. He married a Togher (Toher). Would like to hear from anyone. Thanks.
Comment:
Bernard, Christopher's origins lie elsewhere. Glad you enjoyed your visit to our website. Continue to log on. Best Wishes from Web Team.

Enjoying your site! Many thanks. Rathkenny seems to be where ancestors of the Spring family were living before about 1855. If anyone there can confirm this, we'd be grateful. Contact: kedumba at acay dot com dot au (written this way to reduce automated spam).

Hope you got our reply detailing possible answer to your query. Do the Blue Mountains turn green for St Patrick's Day? Best Wishes, Fr Stanley
